filipinos celebrate Christmas as early as, well, early. nowhere is the blatant commercialization of this holiday more obvious than in the malls where the poor people who escape the hot sizzling days in the air conditioned malls are most vulnerable. the ornate and excessively elegant decorations mimicking those found in the stores in canada and the u.s., along with the blaring sounds of piped in yule carols are enough to put such poor people in a merry spending mood. here is one of the more sedate decoration, this one found at the back of the mall facing yet another mall complex. the rows of Christmas poinsettia, however, give a stark merry contrast to the drab concrete stairs. you notice that there were no people in this photo. it is because there was a velvet red rope that basically tells people to back off.
thank you for stopping by, my friends. i shall try and catch up with yours when i have a better internet connection.
The picture is very eye-catching and interesting, but then I read the story behind Christmas and the poor ....awwww.. That is just so sad. And are you saying that they won't even let anyone on these stairs due to the plants? Odd.
Lovely shot poinsettia's are starting to appearing in all the shops around here to...is christmas close....it can't be the end of the year already can it?
