fire by summerfield

fire

whew! i was all set to make a large batch of banana flambé just so i could photograph its flame. good thing i went around the side streets of downtown toronto and found this gas lamp outside an old building. (i photographed and posted one of the windows of this building last year - see photo of march 4, 2011 or here http://365project.org/summerfield/365/2011-03-04 )

tomorrow i shall have banana flambé without the pressure of having to photograph it.

thank you for your views and comments. they're much appreciated.
GORGEOUS catch of this flame, summerfield. So happy that you didn't have to face the pressure of having to photograph your flambe. You did a fabulous job on this. It's truly beautiful. :)

@karenann - this was a complete surprise with i saw it. i was actually shooting the one side but the good side was this one. i wanted a close up of the fire but i thought i'd show the lamp itself, too. thank you so much for your kind words, karenann. you're always so kind to me.

@crickle1969 - thank you, crystal. i really think it's kinda pretty!

I love this kind of flame. It makes me think of the lampost in Narnia

Wow- a gas lamp- haven't seen one of those in a while. I've seen electric copies, but not the real deal. Nice capture.

@myhrhelper - thank you, kathy. double 'cross process'

@alia_801 - thank you, alia. i lessen the vignette then re-applied it a second time.

@steeler - thank you, howard. if you put a lot of sliced toasted almonds on the banana flambé and eat it without the ice cream it would still be a nutritious dessert. i promise!

@sarasdadandmom - thank you, terry. i was lucky to have seen it. sometimes all one has to do is walk a little further or down some unbeaten path and the treasures are there.

@sunnygreenwood - thank you, anne. glad you like it.

@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. this building and a few others around it have been around since the turn of the previous century. in fact there is a main street a few yards down where there are still gas fired lamps and there's always film shooting around there with people dressed in period costumes.

@cscecil - thank you, CS. i shall take you there when you come visit.

@slash - thank you, susan. very kind of you.
