well, it looks like a star to me, so this would do. partner and i are spending the night in a 'haunted' inn in port colborne, ontario near the welland canal. we are in one of the ten rooms and our room is called 'the judge's chamber'. the inn used to be the town's municipal office and courthouse sometime in the beginning of the 20th century. partner wants to see the 'cellar' or what used to be the holding cell. and we have just one teeny-weenie strand of signal of their so-called wi-fi.
we watched the canada day fireworks across the welland canal and wow! did the townsfolks all come to cheer it on. i have better shots of the fireworks but this one resembles a star the most, which is called for today in the thumbnail challenge (see: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/13208/july-thumbnail-challenge )

A beautiful capture ....love the star and the colors and lighting!! Hoping that you and "partner" have a grand time there and enjoy the holiday. I have been on and off ... so busy right now. I will catch up on you too, summerfield. Have missed you my friend.
@roth - i don't think it was haunted. i couldn't even hear the next door guests. but come to think of it, we never saw anyone else around there. it was an interesting inn, though. we were shown a room where the bathroom door was that of a vault. we didn't get to see the holding cell. the innkeeper was still sleeping when we left this morning. thank you, sue.
@olivetreeann - haunted stuff don't scare me, i am more scared of people like muggers, holduppers and pickpockets, the like. i'd have loved to stay there longer and really see if there are ghosts. thank you, ann.
@pamfromcalgary - nah, i get more spooked by real people. i loved the little old homes and buildings around the village. i was scared more walking across the lift bridge :-) thank you, pam.
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. in reviewing my fireworks shots, i noticed they were not as refined as the last time i took shots of fireworks. well, it just occurred to me that i didn't put the camera on 'fireworks' scene setting!
