We first spied the Evening Grosbeaks on the deck a few days before Christmas. They've been around a few times since then but today was the first day I saw more than a couple at a time. There were about 20 or so. If it's like last year, there'll be 4 or 5 times that many in the coming weeks. Most of the birds pictured here are males. There are a couple of females on the back rail.
Many thanks for dropping by and taking the time to comment.
Great pof . . and group shot! Isn't it just like the male to get the best seat at the table! LOL Love the colors and the angle that you got this. Beautiful!
They are having a convention. It is amazing how many of them are there. THey are very pretty but the one that is facing the camera, looks like he is wearing a funny yellow hat.
@jannkc thanks jann! just seeds on the deck rail. people might think there would be a lot of other activity by the birds but as it turns out they only eat there and do their business somewhere else.
Lovely shot Anne

wow......you have the whole flock on your railing......what a great capture. We don't see so many of these around here......maybe they need something a little more rural
Beautiful color and assemblage of birds! I envy your sightings lately. My birds are very scarce this season. We think the hurricane killed some of them. There are no cardinals, for example, and they have been plentiful here for years. Oh well. Maybe I should scatter some seeds on the patio tomorrow.
