I´m a horrible horrible godmather! Just for the record, I find this pic so disturbing and I get this cold feeling inside when I look at this, I really don´t feel comfortable at all to use this shot but as I promised to my young model that she could chooce the pic I´d use, I shall keep my promise.
The model is my goddaughter and a daughter of my dear friend. You may remember her from that creepy pic on last spring
She is very interested to all creepy things, and my friend always says that she gets that from me, really don´t know how that´s possible as we are not related in anyway :D But yeah, we´re going to have so much fun with this young lady when she gets a bit older, I mean she´s a perfect model; very innocent looking girl who can do scary very well.
As I said, she choce this pic and was not harmed emotianally in any way cos of this. I on the other hand was. At the second I saw this pic on my camera, I just put my hand on my mouth and was like: " Oh my God, what have I done!" and I said to my friend " I can´t use these" and my friend said "Sure you can and of course you will". Yep, I only hope her other parent won´t ever see this pic.
We took other pics too with creepy hands etc but I admit, this really is the most powerful one of them all.
My get-pushed challenge from @rachelwithey was to use shadows in a creative way. I don´t know how creative this is but I have used shadows in a new way for me, as a part of a story telling. So yeah, got pushed to do something I would not otherwise have done, thank you so much Rachel for that great challenge!
@mercuria Thank you so much Ariel, it´s creepy and I like all things creepy but this one just stirs some emotions inside me that I really would like to left untouched. Ok, I won´t delete it, it is what it is and we go with this
I want to urge you not to delete this pic, firstly because of your promise, and secondly because you have succeeded in portraying a very strong story and mood in this...and from what you have written, it is clear that you did not try to portray anything regarding your or your model's personality, that it was innocent in all ways and did not harm anyone. Sometimes we need to do things outside our comfort zones for the sake of a challenge, a mood or whatever cause...and you have perfectly succeeded in doing that! Congrats!
@ericdibosco Thank you so much Eric for your encourage and your feedback, very much appreciate it. You are right, I made a promise and that can´t be broken. Yeah, it is a very effective shot, or at least to me it is. It seams that I´m the only one with the problem here, this just gives me strong assosiations to things I wouldn´t care to think about but yeah, no harm done to anyone else. I promise you, I won´t delete this pic.
very cool image, always love a picture with a story. The soft edit and her calm appearance are a nice contrast to the shadow, takes away a lot of the "scare" factor. Almost like she knows the grim reaper is there but it's ok... or that he's her friend :) I think it's great to have a healthy interest to the dark side, it's good to be able to handle those feelings and thoughts... btw how did you get that shadow ?!?
That's an excellent image. It's not too dark but very very atmospheric. I could see this being used as the cover of a collection of childrens ghost stories.
Wow...very noir scary! Love the shadow and her look! I have a get pushed scary challenge...but am at a loss! Super shot for the challenge...so glad you are playing! :)
I Love creepy, I can see why you would have misgivings, I can get very superstitious about things like this.... but it's fantastic and she choose it, so glad I got to see this and you didn't delete. Fav
Excellent!! Very effective....and well done! It is a little creepy, but in a creative way..hahhaa! Really, perfectly composed, and the lighting is wonderful. B&W is of course perfect! FAV
Fav. This is so well done and v creative. Tells a story so well. I get your reservations but if your model is happy I really wouldn't worry. Fantastic way to meet the challenge
@janim Thanks :) Varjo on mun kaverin; huppari, halloween rekvisiittaa, lamppu ja sit vaan etittiin sellanen kuvakulma, ettei häntä näkynyt, vaan ainoastaan varjo. Ei siinä sen kummepaa. Joo eihän tää mikään pelottava oo, mä en vaan pidä tuosta viikatemies = kuolema assosiaatiosta enkä siitä fiiliksestä, että jotenkin maalaisisin piruja seinille...mä en kuitenkaan voi elää sellasessa harhamaailmassa, että mulle tai kellekään mun rakkaalle ei koskaan vois tapahtua mitään pahaa.
@rachelwithey Thank you so much Rachel, I´m so glad you liked this. I got a lot of inspiration out of this, so there may be more of these to come later on.
Do you know, I actually caught my breath for a moment when I first looked at this. It makes me shiver too. But it is so creative and well executed that I have to fav it. If you don't mind me saying - look how far your photography has come when you compare this shot to the one mentioned in your intro! Very well done you!
@happysnap Thank you Linda, yes ithis really stopped my blood from running too, but I admit there´s something captivating about this too and as I´ve read all of the comments, I´ve become to appreciate this in a new way. And no of course I don´t mind you saying so, yes I can see I´ve improved my photography since then. When I took that first pic, I´ve been here only one month, so I was still a very much a beginner then...maybe I should reshoot that shot now and see what I could come with.
I appreciate your feelings on this shot. Your goddaughter is sweet and innocent and the shadow on the wall is not! But you have taken an amazing photo, telling an amazing story. Good work!
You are right, it is creepy, but also very well done. She seems to know it's just a special effect and is not scared by it. But if this were a picture of one of my beloved nieces, I would feel just as you do. But it's a great picture and I have to fav it!
FAV! You nailed your challenge! This is chilling. So well conceived and executed by you and your assistant. Glad she had a say in creating this and wanted you to post it. You two made a great memory together. One neither will forget.
Such a stunning & very clever picture...and to be honest, it doesn't feel so scary to me strange enough...probably your good & lovely energy runs through the picture for me (don't know how to put this in good English)
A M A Z I N G !!! I love creepy & this is about as creepy as it gets, but in a good way! You've smashed this challenge bettwen the two of you! She's a star! Massive FAV for you both :-)
Wow, just upgraded to ace membership and found the suggestions page - this was the first photo! Creepy and so well done! What a great response to your get pushed challenge.
