Madeleine (left) and I met 49 years ago. We were both studying for a teaching certificate at London University and we were placed in the same school in North London for teaching practise. We soon became friends and have remained friends ever since. Our husbands get on well together too. We don't meet up very often because they live in Hertfordshire and we live in Herefordshire but when we do it's like it was only yesterday.
