The garden is just exploding with beautiful blooms and colour. This rose is particularly lovely.
We have a real problem with aphids., mainly on the roses. I've stopped using all pesticides or chemicals of any kind in the garden. I bought a pack of 100 ladybird larvae but I think they might be a bit overwhelmed by the task in hand. Either that or they'll grow very big and fat. Apparently both the larvae and the adult ladybirds eat aphids. We'll see what happens.
I've heard that it is hard to keep them in your own garden although it sounds as if you do have a welcome feast prepared for them.
Have you tried insecticidal soap? I think it is the least environmentally damaging. You can make your own up by mixing oil and dish detergent ( find proper proportions on line). The downside is that you have to apply often as it only seems to affect the ones it contacts and has no residual effect.
