High Force

High Force is a waterfall on the river Tees near Middleton -in-Teesdale, County Durham. It is supposedly one of Englands most impressive waterfalls and I can well believe that. It is Englands highest waterfall with a drop of 21metres. It's not as impressive at this time of year as I've seen it in the past, after a wet winter. It doesn't quite compare with other waterfalls in the world but it's the best we can offer 😂

What I really love are those stone cliffs on either side with their different striations and textures.

@gardencat Yes I agree. It isn’t quite Niagara Falls is it ( which is definitely on my bucket list) but it’s impressive nevertheless.

What a pity we can’t harness all this power of water for electricity……it looks a wonderful sight! .

Wow! It looks as though the falls have cut a passageway through the stone cliffs (and I suppose they have). Great shot, Sue!
