It's a quince. My neighbour over the road lives in the old school house and she has a very old quince tree in her garden. She gave this to me yesterday and until then I'd never seen a quince. I'm going to cook it with apple. Apparently quince needs sweetening so I'm hoping the apple helps with that.
Love the smell of quince .. but they are not very inviting to eat raw like you do when you are cutting up apple .. apple a quicne together is lovely and makes nice pies.. and quince jelly .. to have with cheese... and a wine..
Thought @happypat has had some of her Damson gin to think the quince looked like a leaf... lol.. I have put up a shot of my blossoms today ... hope to have lots of quince in our Autumn
Great pic. Sorry - everyone is raving about how lovely they are with apple….but, I'm sorry, as far as I am concerned, it is the ruination of an apple pie to add quince into it!
