Taking a Bath

This is the same little pied wagtail as in yesterday's post. After he'd hopped around for a while he then decided to have a bath. This is the first time I've seen a bird do this in the pond.
He is loving your pond Sue, how rewarding for all the work you both did!

oh yes, fabulous :)
Last year I had tadpoles in my big bird bath - they were our native green tree frog and it was like a second childhood for me as I watched the taddies mature over a period of several months. I saw quite a few emerge and lose their tails. Other water troughs around also had tadpoles of a few different native frogs and it was so exciting.
Like your area, frogs here are in deep trouble. Partly fungal issues, and partly due to the cane toad that was introduced and predates on our frogs.
I love the idea of your garden bursting with frogs, and insects and birds as you provide this water source to them. Big thumbs up from here with every photo!
