Shoveler Ducks at Saltholme RSPB Reserve

These ducks make me smile. They have a huge bill which seems so out of proportion to the rest of their body.

Easy to see those large bills in your shots. I wonder why these particular ducks developed that extra big bill. It must have served a purpose or given them an advantage at some point in time.
