The Return of the Bullfinch

We don't often see bullfinches in the garden so it's a real treat when we do. They only visit in the winter months when there are seeds and berries to eat. This one is eating honeysuckle berries. They never go on the seed feeders.

He is really handsome. I’ve never seen one, I don’t know if that is because we don’t have them here in Ontario or just that I haven’t had the luck to come across one.

@gardencat These gorgeous little birds don’t migrate so I suspect you don’t get them in Canada. They’re quite illusive here and most people have never seen one. We feel very privileged.
