For the 52 week self portrait challenge - this weeks theme was In bloom
Next weeks theme is Ghosts, I predict all sorts of scary silliness
Finally I'm back on track, and I can now catch up on your lovely projects.
As always, huge thanks for your visits and comments, they are very much appreciated.
@joysfocus Thank you Joy. Be prepared for quite a long explanation!
I'm not sure what editing software you work with but I use Gimp 2.8.
I started by using a pre set effect in Topaz to give me a sketch look.
I then did the rest of the edit in Gimp. The note pad was a stock image which I scaled up to fit and painted the image on it out. I cut out the photo of me and left on a transparent background, I think I used the layer mode of hard light and duplicated it to give a bit more depth which gave a more realistic "sketched" effect on the pad.
The roses were a bunch of about 12, which I again left on a transparent background after erasing around them. I duplicated the roses about 6 times and moved about on the layers to form a band of them. These rose layers were all then merged to form one layer (bottom layer of dress) I then duplicated the layer and scaled slightly smaller and worked my way up, duplicating scaling, sometimes flipping, and moving around each new layer to make the dress. (I didn't merge any of these layers down, much easier to work with until your happy). I was able to erase the outline of the bodice quite easily by using alpha to selection (inverted) of the layer of me and then erasing the stray roses. (I have to admit I could possibly of lost a few inches off my waistline during the final tidy up :)) Phew, I hope that all makes sense! there are probably much easier ways of doing it but I'm currently using the tools I'm happy with until I figure out how to use the rest of the many many different functions!
