To me, patriotism is about being proud of your country and the people in it whatever their race or religion. It's about being proud of the way we treat each other and the way we treat people from other countries.
Far too many people wave their country's flag and claim to be patriotic while spouting bile and hatred. So much so that the flag becomes a symbol for hatred, racism, ignorance and bigotry.
It's my flag too, and I want it back!........ just saying.
