It's not fair is it. So many of us tend to shy away from cameras, because we don't think we are photogenic.
I personally won't let a camera anywhere near me without washing my hair, shaving, wearing something flattering, spending hours setting up the right lighting, posing at just the right angle to get my best side, sucking in my belly, sticking my chest out, pulling unnatural expressions to try to look cool (less uncool) handsome (less unsightly)........ only for the final photo to make me look like some sort of oddly deformed gremlin with a nervous twitch.
While others (mentioning no names) can be caught by surprise, in her gardening clothes with no makeup on....... she just looks up and smiles and the camera just falls hopelessly, desperately, passionately in love with her at first sight. It really isn't fair is it?
It's not even about being particularly beautiful either. I have known beautiful people who always look odd in photos and others who are more "characterful" than beautiful who always look amazing.
I'm sure there is some complicated scientific principles involved in being photogenic or not. Some rule of photogenics......
Or it may simply be that some of us are just trying too hard. :)
A nice one. I've learned over the years it's better to pose and smile sweetly - regardless of how horrid I think I look - that always produces a better pic than me trying to hide from the camera :-)
