Last day of Kitty week..... normal service will be resumed tomorrow. However I feel I have learned something about studio lighting by experimenting with all this stuff I have acquired. So it was definitely a very worthwhile exercise. Even if I looked carefully at the "rules" and the "conventional wisdom", shrugged my shoulders and went my own way. I'm quite pleased with the results and feel I can do better next time....... so there may be another Kitty week at some point in the not too distant future.

A while ago, a friend of mine inherited a load of photographic studio lighting equipment that she had no use for, so she gave it to me.
So obviously I have been having great fun experimenting with it. There are stands, lights, diffusers umbrellas, beauty boxes, reflectors. remote flash triggers. up lighters, down lighters, etc etc..... Not sure I know what to do with half of it. but it was fun playing.
So as Kitty has a new funky pink hair do..... and as she does scrub up rather well for a 70 year old :) she was my obvious choice for a model.
As you can imagine I took hundreds of photos, so have decided to have a kitty week and post some of my favourites on here
Love this.....thank you for all these lovely pics. It was great fun shooting these with all the different lights filters and screens.......they sure do take up a lot of space though !!!!
Loved this Kitty week! @cutekitty I can definitely relate to the problem of “where do we put all of this?“ I have to do a lot of serious clearing out of things! But you are a fabulous model! And these are wonderful portraits. Kudos for everything learned by this experimentation. I see a lot of continued use for the equipment in the future. What luck to be gifted with it.
@mcsiegle I seem to have got away with having 3 man caves at the moment........ I have a recording studio built on the back of the house, a room full of printers, vintage cameras and photographic kit upstairs and a workshop in the back garden for all Captain Flynn stuff (Steampunk objet d'art)....... I am very fortunate to have a very tolerant wife. :)
