Young Spanglebob here is just losing his brown plumage and is starting to grow his adult colours. Seagulls always look a bit of a mess at this stage of their development but Spanglebob was very brave and let me take his picture anyway.
Don't ask me why he is called Spanglebob. My friend Dolores (the seagull) told me that the seagull naming process is a very ancient tradition, the workings and details of which are way beyond the understanding of mere humans.
