There are a pair of swans who live in Mevagissey harbour. Nobby and Nora.
They were in the national news back in the summer when Nobby was injured by a German tourist who inexplicably grabbed him by the neck and swung him into a wall. Fortunately Nobby wasn't seriously injured and seems to have made a complete recovery.
Despite a police manhunt, the culprit made his escape back to Germany before he could be apprehended and charged.
Given that technically these swans are the property of the Queen of England, I'm sure that if he had been caught, there would have been some obscure law from the 12th century still on the statute books that would have required that he was hung drawn and quartered and his head put on a spike outside the Tower of London. So he is probably a very lucky man to have made good his escape.
I liked this shot of Nobby as he seems to be staring at his own reflection in the water.
What sort of perverse idiot does that kind of thing? Drunk?
