This is one of our favourite antique/vintage shops in Charlestown. Not only is it huge and stuffed full of strange and interesting little treasures..... It is also very reasonable in the pricing department. They don't play the ridiculous game other antique shops play, where they put stuff out at twice what it's worth so that they can insult your intelligence by trying to make you feel like you have negotiated a great deal when in fact you have actually paid several quid over the odds. I always find that sort of thing really irritating and unnecessary.
In my own shop I always put everything out at the most reasonable price I can in order to still make a living. I always work on the principle that I would rather sell 20 items and make £5 on each, than sell 2 items and make £20 on each. It also means that most of my customers come back again and again because they like our prices.
However I still get some people asking me "What's your best price on this mate?"
I always reply "My best price is whatever it says on the price label plus five pounds...... but as I like you, you can have it for what it says on the price label."
Most people appreciate my humour....... Sadly one or two don't. :)
