Us Pirates of St. Piran were top of the bill on the Main stage on Saturday night at the Falmouth International Sea shanty festival. We played a very rocky set to a packed and enthusiastic crowd who just didn't want us to finish. It was probably our most enjoyable gig of the year (so far)......
Some of the more traditional sea shanty singers and groups frown on what we do, but we are certainly opening up the sea shanty genre to a new young audience and trying to keep these ancient traditional songs alive for future generations to enjoy.
Over the course of the weekend we played 6 gigs and raised £2,600 for the RNLI in our charity collection buckets. We also sold lots of copies of our new CD.
So now you see why I haven't been posting recently..... things are really kicking off with the pirates this year. :)
