Driving in Friday afternoon traffic, with your camera on the passenger seat beside you, provides many opportunities while stopped to look around for a potentially interesting photo. The city had a sort of bluish tint to it which I tried to bring out a bit more in processing. I liked this scene because (a) it has one of our iconic buildings (Sears/Willis tower) and (b) I liked the splash of red from the Salvation Army water storage container (a relic from past days).
@kcman5 Thanks Cathy! I'm rarely in the car (usually on public transport of walking) but today was actually glad that traffic was so heavy. I ended up taking several photos I liked! @mwbc It was beautiful today, wasn't it? Where are you located? @soren Thanks Jake! @jankoos Thanks Jan. We tend to be proud of our architecture.
@kazlamont Thanks Kazzy. I don't think it would have been as interesting without the old-time addition. @colie Thanks Colie! The red and the old-time feeling are what to me make it better than s straight skyline.
Excellent shot! You could do an art wall of these- the park like shot of the aeration station, the classy urban street, one of those night shots and the one with the park and some moody clouds hanging around in the sky. I love the colors you captured here.
@jodimuli@alia_801 Thanks Jodi and Alia! I appreciate your visiting and commenting. @johnmnewman Thanks, John, for the fav! That is such a confidence-builder! @kimshots I downloaded the Nik Suite, which has Color Efex Pro and Silver Efex Pro as part of it and use those two along with Aperture. I usually go back and forth between one of the Nik ones and the Aperture ones under 'adjustments.' For this one, I used a preset for bringing out details more, as the sky in my original was flatter than what it had looked like in person. @darylo Daryl, you're so reinforcing! You've given me an idea for a section of the photobook I want to do once the year is up. @olivetreeann Wow, that's flattering! I like the combination you laid out too. You have an artistic eye far beyond just your photos! @carolmw@timandelke Thanks Carol and Elke -- I appreciate it!
Love those blue tones and the spot of red is perfect. Thanks for all the lovely comments on my photos. I'm not doing much 365 stuff this eve so I'll have a good look through your project tomorrow and come up with a challenge.
@taffy Love when others love what you do (I know what you mean when people relate to your personal faves!). I've so got to visit my windy city again. It's so close. We don't leave home much. Must change that!!!
@mijade Oh, you are close! Friends of mine have a daughter and son-in-law on staff at Purdue in medical ethics and in bio something or other. Good school! I do live in Chicago for the academic year, and then spend the summer on Beaver Island.

The colours are wonderful and I agree that splash of nostalgic Red for the Salvos is fantastic
