Taken of the fireworks tonite over the Beaver Island Harbor. I was set up on the sand, but was worried about stability. I asked to set up on the deck of the water sports rental shop (they had a group partying at the other end of the deck) and they were gracious about letting Jim, me, and our visitors watch from there. Even with the extra elevation, there was no reflection of fireworks in the water, only that gentle band of color depending on the color of the fireworks going off at the time.
I may have to post another one tomorrow as they were so much fun to do!
Used 100 ISO, f13, bulb setting for shutter and mostly kept it open between 5 and 20 seconds. This one was 13.3 sec.
I have no idea how those chicken feet got into the fireworks but they add such singular interest in a way that other traditional ones do not. Very nicely captured!
Stunning this has given me an idea for the World Fireworks Championships, but i may have forgotten about this shot come september, but still it is a great shot and the colours in the water are just superb!!
Great shot, Taffy. They really look like arms. Great colors and love the bit of red on the watersurface.
You do know that the specifics about your shot are to be found in the 'exif', just to the right side of your pic?
@cathrinemitch@kwind Thanks Catherine and Kim for the fav! I appreciate it! @stimuloog Thanks Marloes -- I do use exif info rather than posting most of the time, but this one it seemed useful as there was so much discussion earlier in the day about settings. I thought I'd save folks a step if they were curious. I love seeing others' exif info and have learned a lot from it!

Thanks for the wonderful comments Luna, Elaine, and Amrita -- Elaine especially for the fav! Many thanks! This was the only shot that showed this image as you can see from my collage. I've never seen anything like this before either.
@darylo Thanks so much Daryl! We were so lucky with being able to use the store's deck, having clear weather with only a little wind, and to some extent because the fireworks weren't that different from one another, most were at a similar height and placement so I could figure out the settings and then just re-use them each time.
Everyone's said it all - I've come late to this party - but I like the sense of the wind pushing the explosion more and more to the left of the shot. The end "chicken feet" are a real bonus!
