Thinking a lot about sun flare for the CSC-29 (and please think about submitting!!!). Thinking about this week's mundane challenge which is glass. Cleaning up the kitchen after dinner and thinking I don't have a new photo from today. Look outside (duh) Grab almost empty and no longer drinkable bottle of wine and pour into a glass. Not much left so add a little water. Head outside and have some photo fun. Download and narrow choice to two photos. Then decide to post them both (see other at http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-07-08). They also fit the ONS5 challenge since they can both be seen as advertisements for evenings on Beaver Island, a worthy travel destination.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments and support of my obsessive attempt to do light painting! And for your comments on the fireworks -- it was on PP for a nano-second earlier today.
And try some flares this week!!! Tag CSC-29.
@vankrey I'm going to sleep right now -- forcing myself too -- so I can get up tomorrow and serve as official photographer for the Beaver Island Garden Tour tomorrow and Wednesday. I'm excited but nervous about the responsibility. I hope it goes okay!
One shot .... two birds (I don't think "Kills" is the right word here). How clever. I like the serenity of it, make me what to sit there finish the wine, not really, there is water in it - hahaha
Yeah not bad... ;) ;)
Honestly.. ok then OH MY GOD that is just sooo lovely love the colours and the way the sun makes the glass look almost dirty... it is the sun that is doing that isn't it? I mean you did clean and dry the glass off before doing the shot didn't you?? ;) ;) Sorry only kidding does it really matter? It's a really clever shot, pat on the back for that one @taffy
Ha Ha! I love those nano second runs on the PP! I've had a few of those - blink your eye and they are gone. I like your commentary and that is a beautiful picture!
@steampowered I wasn't sure if this 'counted' as flare since it is the sunset so in a way, it's just a photo of the sun. Would it be because of the bright light coming off the sun? Or would be be because of the reflection by the stem. As I look at and think about flare photos, I'm wondering what would make a photo of the sun NOT a flare? Is it possible? Or are all sunset photos with the sun in them (and sunrise) automatically flare? Sorry for all the questions...just trying to sort it out.
@taffy Hi Taffy. Theoretically it isn't flare but seeing as neither you nor I is going to win the challenge this week (!) it doesn't really make a difference! :o))
Saw this on a small thumbnail on the pp and have to tell you this - it looked like a whales tail silhouette in the setting sun! It must be the refraction and in the clear glass not showing clearly in the small thumbnail but pretty cool. Congratulations, I have seen quite a few of your recent shots on PP.
@gerry Thanks for the fav, Gerry. You are so generous!
@sianipops Thanks Nia. I did think the thumbnail made it hard to tell what it was -- a whale tale isn't something I'd thought of though! Thanks for the congrats -- this morning it was so exciting to see the two of them side by side!
@salemslot Am catching up on comments and had to laugh at this one you'd left. You caught one lazy step in this -- the water I poured into the wine splashed the glass and I used a wet cloth to dry it, didn't work well, and then though, "Oh well, no one will notice" -- good lesson!!

Thank you so much for faving this photo! It ended up on PP and I'm sure that your faves are why. I appreciate it!
