It's great to be back on Beaver Island. I had only a few minutes of beautiful weather to take photos (as I write, the winds are building to 50 mph and it's raining), but we had a ton of work to do to get deck furniture, some tools, furniture pads, etc. into the garage before it started pouring. I wouldn't have been able to get this shot if we hadn't left a bag with milk and my monopod at the airport. While Jim got a fire started, I drove back up the bluff to retrieve our stuff. On the way back, I took this -- our house is literally at the end of the road. Hoping to get out again on Sunday. An image from the drive up is in my extras album: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-10-25
And from the flight over, in my extra extras album- http://365project.org/taffy/special-photos/2013-10-25
Thank you all for your comments and favs that took Portico at Union Station to TT this week. Wow! What a way to start the weekend! I so appreciate your continued support!
@eyesmile Thanks Gena! Only til Monday! And it is such a different feeling from 'normal' life! So relaxing (especially because of the weather which is limiting going out at all). It's SO quiet and dark compared to our place in the city!
@thirtysevenways I'm guessing a lot will be gone, which is why I wanted to capture some today. I have some other shots I can use tomorrow if the weather doesn't clear up.
What fabulous colours! How lovely to be back on Beaver Island even if it is just for the weekend! What a lovely contest to your normal life in Chicago Taffy! I think you have the best if both worlds and we have been lucky enough to share some of it with you! Congrats on TT - a great shot from your "other life"!!
YEAH!! I'm your get pushed partner for next week. I will go through your photos and come up with something for you. On my profile page I do list the challenges I've had so far - perhaps that will help.
@kazlamont I did feel the stress totally go away until today when Aperture crashed and ALL my photos (since 2004) disappeared! I'd just backed it up last night -- wow SOOO lucky -- but am on pins and needles as it's been restoring for the past 7 hours and is only a little over halfway there. AGH! Hoping it's all okay in the morning, but i've been afraid to even use my computer all evening. Stress is back...
@taffy oh no! That is a worst nightmare for anyone! Such great timing to have backed up your shots or this could have been a worse nightmare than it is....how is the computer now? I hope it is running smoothly! xo
This is beautiful! You're so lucky to have the best of both worlds! I always swore if I won the lottery my two homes would consist of a loft in the city and a cabin in the woods!
I have a couple challenge options for you.
1) Smoke/powder/dust in the air - There are several directions you could go with this you can be creative.
2) Shoes - every girl loves shoes, so time to be creative with them for on the hunt for some interesting ones.
3) Do Over - Look at your project - is there a shot you think you could have done better? Go for it.
Have Fun!! Woo Hoo
Now to get my husband to let me use that filter again.
