Inspired by @jo13, I've been working with ICM and then editing to capture motion. Yesterday's posting was my first attempt, taken in the rural woods - http://365project.org/taffy/special-photos/2013-10-28. Today's attempt was taken on North Michigan Avenue -- a very chic part of Chicago's downtown area, where trees line the boulevard and are surrounded by wrought iron planters with bright flowers. If viewed larger, it's easier to see the pedestrian shoppers on the left and the cars and taxis going by on the right. Edited in Color Efex Pro with polarization filter and diffusion. And further edits for contrast and tone using Aperture.
My other posts today were more Chicago architecture shots. The landmark 4th Presbyterian Church: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-10-29 and the 1800s water tower that survived the Great Fire is in my extras album.
Very cool,Taffy!I have been trying this and it is so very difficult to get a smooth look as you have! Put I love learning through play so I will keep playing.Your successes encourage me!
Love this Taffy! It has a feel of wet autumn in the city, really atmospheric.... fav. I have been revisiting the photos I took yesterday and I have converted one to b & w that I will post later... such fun!
This is great Taffy, I love how it looks like a painting, for me that is the effect I am after, is it a photo or is it a painting. I love the subject, areas of light and rich colours. I look forward to seeing more ICM shots?
@jo13 Thanks Jo -- it really was that one photo of yours last week that got me started. I loved the effect and it opened up so many possibilities for images. I'm not that strong on abstract work so was really excited when this just hit me as a style I wanted to learn to control. So thanks to you for the inspiration!
@taffy My pleasure, I have to say I rather like it too, I think it's because it satisfies the frustrated artist in me, the trick is finding out what subjects do and don't work and then developing a style that you like. Keep up the good work.
this is really beautiful with so much going on when you view it enlarged - love that bright central patch of natural light and then some street lights punching through
