Above the High Desert by taffy

Above the High Desert

I've never flown with my brother until this morning. Flying isn't my favorite thing and I tend to avoid tiny aerobatic planes for all the obvious reasons. But 365 has changed my view of the whole idea -- why wouldn't I want to fly with him to take photos I couldn't otherwise take (and no flight attendant to tell me to turn off my camera!). Today was calm and the sun was shining and he promised he would not do anything like a loop or spin. We flew out over the desert to view the burn areas from the recent fires, see interesting patterns made by dried river beds, and go over houses that are clearly 'off the grid.' I loved it!! Weather cooperating, next time he'll take me over the mountain you see here!
Oh, and this also was using the CSC-35 settings!

Absolutely fantastic!Isn't it amazing what we will now do for an image? This shot was well worth any jitters you might have had!

WOW! Stunning pov and colors. I love how getting a good shot can make us swallow our fears a little. Glad you went up, this is beautiful. Thank you so much for all of your comments. I'm trying to do some serious catch up tonight due to the crazy forced 365 diet the last couple of weeks. Great to see what you've been shooting. Always a treat for me:)

What a splendid experience. You get an amazing view from up there!

You must have practiced a bit to get that huge POV in. Needs tons of light too so this is rather good! Won't catch me doing this, though!

What an exciting experience for you. Such a view!

@maggiemae Thanks Maggiemae! What was amazing is that early in the flight he pointed out that he could tilt the wing for me to get it out of the way. And he could move the plane around so the sun was over my shoulder. So for this shot, he did exactly that. Otherwise, my view was generally of the wing overhead in the shot. He's had lots of experience so I knew I'd be safe. But I do still find it scary, a bit.

@colie Thanks so much Colie. I always have a smile when I see you've been catching up and get to read several comments at once! And you're so right about photography goals overcoming fears -- bugs, snakes, and now flying!
