Today was great fun with @anwan and @danielwsc outside in a cold, but wonderfully sunny day at the Brookfield Zoo, in suburban Chicago. It's significantly larger than Lincoln Park Zoo in the city, and has a much better environment for animals, given that it still is a zoo. The number of photos I took (animals plus dog sled races) is ridiculous, so this was just one that I easily could claim as a favorite.
I've been absolutely overwhelmed by your responses and comments and fav's for my snowflakes and REALLY appreciate it so much. You are such a wonderful community -- it means a lot to read what you have to say about my photos.
So, with that in mind, my apologies in advance for this week. I'm off to NYC with @jyokota for a combination of work with photography walks in our free time and have no idea how I'll keep up this week with posting and commenting. I suspect time will be tight (and possibly internet access). Wishing you all a good week. I'll have my phone to be able to view -- but am not good at commenting on it!
An absolutely delightful capture of such a happy and relaxed yet alert tiger. You have captured colour and stance beautifully and luck was in to capyure him against that warm grey rock with a rusty / burnt amber streak in it coordinating with his colouring A certain fav++
Have a good week -we shall forgive you for not commenting !!
What a gorgeous kitty cat! Beautiful shot! Have a great time in NYC, and I am looking forward to your pictures from your photographic forays with Michael Elliot when you return. Stay warm!
Amazing Tiger-portrait! Is that his dinner in front of him? I love how there's a visual oxymoron of sorts seeing a tiger sitting on snow. Glad you had fun with Daniel and Annette . . . and truly, there's no way I could have gone and been ready to go to NYC tomorrow. Packing for two trips in such diverse weather at once has been more than a challenge.
@maggiemae Heehee, Maggie! Maybe that is why the tiger is lying in the snow -- definitely a way for him to cool off if feeling hot as he was out in the midst of Chicago winters! Though, he is a suburban cat.
Err, it was over a thousand. How about you??? We just went to the San Diego Zoo, and I "only" took a thousand that day too. And I consciously told myself "that's not a good photo, don't take it" and skipped entire animal pens. However we had regular pandas AND red pandas, and the koalas woke up and started scampering, then there were the walk-through aviaries...
@anwan Well, you have me beat by about 250! I know I deleted, in the end, over 300. So I think you idea of being more selective about photographing at a zoo makes a lot of sense! But pandas!! I could probably take 1000 of those alone!! Have fun out that (you're missing more frigid weather here, lucky you!).
@anwan Oh, lucky you not to have to miss the cold winds here!! Isn't this miserable? I walked over to the Marquette and Rookery to take some photos indoors this afternoon -- next time I'll call you to go with me!!
@anwan We leave Thursday and I can't wait! Taking camera equipment and golf clubs (and computer of course). Our friends have some fun things planned and the weather looks good for the weekend. Yay!!
