New toy for processing -- ArtSnap -- that Jeff Walker @jsw0109 has used. It's so much fun! It gives you a bunch of options of different painting and sketching styles, along with sliders to let you customize any of the presets. And you can do a 15 day trial. This was originally an HDR combined shot of three bracketed ones, taken when I was in Wisconsin. Processed today, just for fun.
Thanks for the kind words about my kite flying shot with selective color. I appreciate the support!
@eyesmile I didn't check out the cost yet. My plan is to use it over the next two weeks and then it will be easier for me to judge when I see the price whether it's worth it. I figure, ignorance is bliss in this case! But, knowing me, I'll probably check price in another day or two if the fun of using it hasn't worn off. I think with programs like this, my pattern is initial excitement, use a lot, then it wanes. I need to see if it's one of those useful programs that fit particular photos well (like a Nik Silver Efex) or just a fun thing (app level). I'll be curious to see what you think of it once you try it.
Hmmm...ArtSnap sounds like something I would enjoy. I'll have to compare it to BeFunky (which is free). This came out great- it really does look like a painting!
...I lied about heading to bed... This caught my eye on the thumbnails and I had to say how awesome I think it looks! I'd want SnapArt for this look alone! It's got those nice brush strokes that I adore in a painting, and I'm wondering if the HDR backbone underneath has give this some added dimension...Love it! Without knowing the other software tools, and speaking only about PS, it does have a nice array of artistic filters that I like a great deal (and some I don't like at all...) Of course, after awhile, "I want more"... What I haven't done is to see if art filters can be downloaded...(I suspect probably yes...) I just downloaded some wonderful-looking fonts... will share with you another time why I like having a variety... Do you correspond with friends and family a great deal? I'll leave you tonight to think about that one... Toodles :)
@Weezilou So, my big decision for summer is, using a mac, is it worth switching from Aperture to LR, and then getting into PS. OR, stay with Aperture, but process in PS, or just do what I do and learn Perfect Layers as my layering tool, which I need desperately (yeah, like 'need desperately can really be applied to photo software -- Ken will definitely think I'm an awful influence). I feel like whatever I decide will set up the next several years of how I do photography and I want things in place before I retire from my day job -- next year's my last full time year. So, I'm closely following threads about this, but haven't seen anything lately. If you've been using PS for awhile, where would you rate it in your list of tools?
