In 1992, there was a flash flood in Vaisson, from a storm in the French alps and before they had a good warning system in place. Over 90 people from around the world lost their lives, having camped in a low-lying campground. This memorial, of stones carved with relevant symbols, lies on the road into town, with the ruins of the castle above.
Internet is terribly slow in the house we are now in, so comments will be spotty. Thank you all for your well wishes (and yes, to those who asked, the wine tasting opportunities are quite amazing!). Looking forward to Junko's @jyokota arriving tomorrow night!
This is just an amazing shot Taffy, such great colour and composition. It looks like a beautiful place, and a great way to remember the people who lost their lives.
