I'm enjoying practicing with my super wide angle while in France. The architecture lends itself to it so well! This was taking standing under the clock tower in Aix-en-Provence, looking toward the main street into Old Town -- the area of the original town and, then the area of the workers when the 'mansion district' was created. All goes back hundreds of years, and it's obvious both sides of town are quite elegant today.
@mara19500 Still laughing...I do try, and when I do, the people I'm talking to switch to English. I think they find it painful to hear me! Probably similar to the pain of having to listen to me sing!
So jealous of this trip - you must be having a blast. Love this view - wide angle is always fun - but especially when the architecture is this cool to begin with!
Fantastic photograph, Taffy. There's so much to study in this pic, from the cobbled streets to the shuttered windows, street lamps, people... Thanks for sharing your experiences here with us.
This is such an interesting shot, with a lot to look at. I love your pov, the colours of the buildings, and all the little things going on in the streets. Fav
Such a great POV and perspective. Your WA really makes this very interesting. I have often used it for single buildings, but never for this type of street scene...works just great!
@radiogirl It's the lens. When I shoot at 14 mm, it does this distortion. It's taken me about 2 years to figure out when and how to use the lens, but now I love it.
Love this shot!! Perfectly captured.....definite FAV!! Which wide angle lens are you using? Did you get the Nikon 12-24mm? I debated getting that, and ended up with the Tokina since I was not sure how much I would be using it. I love the Tokina and use it a lot, but never had a chance to compare it to the Nikon.
@panthora It's the Nikon 14-24. I bought it used about 2 years ago and have struggled to figure out how to use it. I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of it -- and on this trip it was one of my favorite lenses to use. In the past, I didn't bother bringing it with me -- huge change!
TAffy -- and @michaelelliott -- I had a flight attendant on my way to Singapore where I am now, who showed me a handful of his Japan photos. Totally spectacular ones taken with this lens -- the Nikon 14-24. I'd not seen such perspectives on interpreting Japan before!
Is it your lens that does the distortion or is it processed.
Whichever it is it is a neat effect,
It's a fav
