Rousillion has to be one of the most intriguing places geographically that I've seen. The color reminded me of the high desert in the U.S. southwest but these were cliffs overlooking a valley that went on forever, with the village sitting at the top of the cliffs. It was visually stunning and impossible to do it justice in a single photograph.
I'm hopelessly behind on commenting, and so appreciate your commenting despite my lack of participation. I'm trying to keep up with a post a day so I don't flood the thread when I get back. Today's our last day in Provence, then on to Barcelona tomorrow. SAD to leave!!
Beautiful capture. Love the deep rich colors of the landscape. Great sense of scale and depth with the distant hikers. Almost looks like they're ascending into Heaven with that dramatic sky.
omg you're in France! sorry I'm a little bit late! hope you're having a great time. tour pic is fabulous, it really shows the landscape and it's fab colors
While you are on a tour of France I don't think anyone could be upset with a lack of comments. I find it amazing you are able to still upload and edit your shots. By the way, this shot is awesome. Big fave!!
@smevvy I'm thanking Heather here for the wide angle perspective of this place, and OMG, Taffy, I can see why you can't capture it all! You CAN certainly do justice to (and have) the portion yu took, but it boggles the mind what might need to be traversed to get to town! I can't believe your travels are going by so quickly...(Mine, too, as we head back home after being up the coast for almost a week.) I can't wait to see what you photograph in Barcelona! My finger is poised to make them all my favorites!
...sad to leave, but perhaps even better to come! No problem re the commenting...I enjoy travelling with you and your company so much, I don't care! Thanx for sharing on a daily basis.
This really looks like an interesting place and quite a long and steep climb! Hope we can see more of it in future posts!
Roussillon, a triumph of ocres and reds and incredible palette! I remember this stunning explosion of colours especially at sunset!!!!
Is it the season when lavander is in full bloom? That's another fond memory of Provence.
Thanks for making me relive those emotions!
@mara19500 We're a few weeks short of the lavender blooming, unfortunately, but it has otherwise been a perfect time. We leave in the morning, with such wonderful memories!
This does look like it was taken in the South West U.S. not Provence. Love the color of the rock and your POV! I have a similar shot taken in Bryce Canyon Utah that is a close duplicate - interesting
This is so fab, like another planet. Omg (as our youngsters would say), Barcelona is the best! So enjoying seeing your amazing photographic skills on our continent.
this is fantabulous... there is just something so wonderfully mysterious and atmospheric about this image... wonderfully composed and such excellent use of the light... at least you have a glorious excuse for being behind :)
Your photo of the steps is absolutely stunning!
Fantastic shot. I'll catch up on your others soon but I've been busy working away. :)
