Elaine @elaine55 and Sue @redpants and I met Monday night for a photo walk in Sydney on my last night in Australia before flying out the next morning for home. We started at the QVB, walked through the downtown down to Sydney Harbor. Just before grabbing a cab back to the hotel, after both Sue and Elaine had headed home, I photographed on Circular Quay, with the opera house located at the end. It was a perfect night -- gorgeous weather, brilliant lights around the harbor -- so this is the first of what I figure will be a few photos to come. What a spectacularly beautiful city!
What a beautiful view you captured of this iconic architecture! Without taking "the typical angle" you captured n easily recognizable image! (I spent time in Sydney with a friend who is an exception photographer, so I had a wonderful guide as well!)
Very well done! I have seen many photographs of this opera house and it alone as what made me want to visit Australia. I was hoping this would be one of the shots that you captured.
Wonderful pov, the Opera House is stunning.Love the starburst. Sydney is a beautiful city, some amazing architecture and the harbour is grand. Glad you enjoyed your visit to Oz :)
I love the POV here for this shot, your exposure looks perfect. This has to be one of the most photographed buildings in the world and it's always great to see a different perspective. My favourite part to photograph is the walkway. To enter any shots of the Opera House in Camera club here you have to take any image other than the norm. I had a great evening too and was so glad I met up with you and Sue @redpants.
Taffy, I had no doubt but what we were going to be treated to a "different twist" on iconic structures! I'm glad this is just the first of many! Terrific POV and the lighting is stunning.

Wow! Great long exposure/low light shot. I really like your depth of color. Also have to agree that it's a very interesting view of this famous building.
I concur with most of the other comments above, and there does not seem to be much to add to it, except give it a FAV!! Really wonderful take on an iconic building, the one that beckons me to Australia, and especially Sydney! The other interesting thing is that you have developed a definite style, and your shots are so recognizable for being a ""Taffy image". I saw this on TT, and knew it was yours before I even clicked on it!! Really looking forward to seeing more of your shots from this trip. It sounds like you made the most of it photographically!!
@elaine55 That makes a lot of sense for the camera club rule. While I was photographing, almost everything I started to take, I thought "I've seen that photo." It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Although I do have one that I'll post that is pretty cliche -- but I have to as the building is so beautiful I can't help myself!
Funnily I still love the clichéd shots too, and I never tire of seeing The Sails/Opera House or the Coathanger/Harbour Bridge. I have also seen many untraditional shots. One of my very good friends has taken some excellent untraditional images.
First posting from our night together! Many more to post over the next few weeks -- what a great night!
