Two Climbers by taffy

Two Climbers

It was a treat to be somewhere with an amazing blue sky and no need for a coat, much less boots and gloves! Colorado was having record-breaking heat during my visit. This was taken in Garden of the Gods. The two little dots (more easily seen when enlarged) were climbers practicing their skill. Impressive to watch -- with absolutely no envy at all!
Well spotted Mate, great shot!! Both these climbers are so sharp and that is what the title tells me to look at!

Wonderful action shot Taffy! Not something I would like to do! Great capture the climbers are so clear against that fabulous blue sky! I checked out Colorado and saw lots of shots of the Garden if the Gods. What a beautiful place. Hope you had a good weekend! At least you got some warmth! Fav for such a fab shot!

Amazing, awesome capture! A mountain like this really make you feel small, especially when you see how tiny the climbers look.
February 10th, 2015
Great capture, nice against that beautiful sky.
February 10th, 2015
I don't know that I could even watch this! Quite happy to see this photo though!

Great shot love the scale

Not my thing either, although I enjoy watching the climbers in Garden of the Gods. Beautiful picture of this spectacular place.
February 10th, 2015
Having conquered your balcony (have you?) I thought you would be quite OK to join them! Lovely use of contrasting colours and great diagonal line through the image.
February 10th, 2015
Wow.Rather them than me.They do a great sense of scale though. Great capture
February 10th, 2015
Excellent. Love how the light catches the climbers.
February 10th, 2015
Incredible scale and colours
February 10th, 2015
The worst thing about climbing something like this is that then you have to come down again... unless there is an 'easy' back route. Wonderful minimalist image.
February 10th, 2015
Love this one. There is no sense of scale until you realise that there are climbers on board. Fave.
February 10th, 2015
Amazing !
February 10th, 2015
Beautiful shot, Love the composition and colours.
February 10th, 2015
Beautiful colour contrast, love the little ants scaling gigantum :)

Every picture of sunshine makes me weep. We have just finished this morning with a storm that started Saturday evening. I need to go out this morning and do a better job of cleaning off my steps. More snow coming Thursday.
February 10th, 2015
Wow, what an amazing shot. I am sure there must be an easier way to get to the top though. Maybe in a helicopter. ha ha.
February 10th, 2015
Wow fav

Beautiful, I loved this park when I visited there on vacation a few years back.
February 10th, 2015
Thanks for posting the shot. I climbed there many years ago! Forgot all about it! That was before I had kids.

Beautiful shot of the ridge line and climbers with that amazing expanse of blue sky! Glad you got out of the cold.

February 10th, 2015
You can't beat a beautiful Colorado blue sky. Lovely image.
February 10th, 2015
their size emphasises the size iof the massive rock theyre climbing. nice shot!
February 10th, 2015
Not for the faint of heart! Okay be honest. There are stairs, elevators and escalators on the other side for people to get back down. Right?
February 10th, 2015
Dwarfed by the impressive rocks, a super capture. Fav!! 😃
February 10th, 2015
Wow, what an awesome photo, Taffy. You captured so much detail including the rope on the person climbing. Love the color of the rocks against the beautiful blue sky. It is always amazing to me to see climbers as they have no fear usually. I could not do it but amazing to see it. FAV
February 10th, 2015
Fabulous capture
February 10th, 2015
Wow incredible shot
February 10th, 2015
Strange, I have no wish to emulate them! It must have been lovely to be in the warm. Fascinating capture.
February 10th, 2015
I like this! Super composition!
February 10th, 2015
@skipt07 Loved your comment!! Ah...to have a hidden elevator so we could all have access to the view!! Or maybe it's a movie set?
February 10th, 2015
The view from their vantage point must be awesome, but there is no way I could get up there! The red rock against the blue is fab
February 10th, 2015
Love this - how did you ever happen to spot them up there? What a terrific pov and perspective of the people and that huge rock. I watched a similar group at the Colorado National Monument one fall - they were climbing to the top of one of those spires - looked straight up to me! Not envious - but definitely in awe.
February 11th, 2015
Great shot- the sky contrasted to the rocks is amazing. Love that bold diagonal right through the picture.
February 11th, 2015
So brave, I don't think I would jump at the opportunity! Excellent shot, with the people giving it scale.
February 11th, 2015
@milaniet They actually were easy to see with the sun creating such a bright scene. And we knew this was an area for climbers so we were looking for them. I saw them and found a way to position them so they would be almost in silhouette. They were so tiny that I didn't realize, actually, that I had them both in the shot as the one at the top was often not visible -- maybe bending over with the ropes or something.
February 11th, 2015
Gorgeous contrast!
February 11th, 2015
Awesome shot.
February 11th, 2015
Amazing capture!!! And yes, I like to watch climbers, and yes, I am not the least bit envious!!! hehehe
February 11th, 2015
Wow, excellent photo. Hope you had or are having fun, sounds like it with the warm weather and photo opportunities!
February 11th, 2015

February 11th, 2015
Great colors!
February 11th, 2015
Garden of the Gods is awesome. Cool to see people climbing
February 11th, 2015
Wonderful shot, with such strong diagonal lines and tiny (tiny) people for scale. To think of climbing this... eek! Excellent composition. So glad that the weather helped you out. :)
February 11th, 2015
I love the Garden of the Gods! I was lucky enough to be there at sunrise. Truly amazing!
February 11th, 2015
Yep, I agree. No desire to hang off a cliff. Evocative shot.
February 11th, 2015
Wow very pretty with the blue sky and your compositon! can't believe how small the people are!
February 11th, 2015
Great shot! I love it there!
February 11th, 2015

February 12th, 2015
@ericdibosco Thanks Eric! But no conquering of the balcony yet and probably not all that likely til it at least warms up.
February 12th, 2015
awesome contrast of door and unbelievable that they climb like that
February 12th, 2015
color...not door...stupid spell check!
February 12th, 2015
OMG, certainly shows how insignificant we humans are vis-a-vis nature! Fantastic shot Taffy, no way would this black duck be found up there!
February 12th, 2015
Yikes, no way! Great capture but they can have that on their own :)
February 12th, 2015
I love the pov and the negative space. Awesome blue sky. I really like the sky in the western states.
February 12th, 2015
Oh good gracious, enough to give anyone vertigo. I'm in awe of people who can do that (and those who can photograph it so perfectly!)
February 12th, 2015
wow! fabulous capture - the contrast of colours of the sky and the mountain, and the two people climbing it add dramatic interest as well as perspective. not an everyday capture, for sure. i love it!
February 15th, 2015
Well spotted. Awesome POV and composition. I like the strong colors.
