It wasn't exactly an ideal day for a ferry 33 miles across Lake Michigan to get to Beaver Island, but the crossing was fairly smooth despite some wind, rain, and fog. The harbor as we were leaving was serene and calming, while the 'big lake' was a bit more daunting.
We arrived on the island with friends waiting at the boat dock, a car that started (always a question, but our friends had gotten it going for us, so nice!, and brought it from our house to the dock); and at our house, a fresh hatch of mosquitoes welcomed us as we unpacked. Hoping it won't be like last year! We only have four days up here this time, but will make the most of it.
Thank you for you unbelievably positive response to my multi-panel pano of the cloudy city. I was so pleased -- grateful for your comments, favs, and overall support. And then to have the Sunset over Greece on the TT -- what a great way to start the weekend!

I thought I'd squeeze in another water shot before the month ends. I wanted to do a water crown and a balloon, but ran out of time (and for the balloon, never found a willing accomplice). Sometime soon, though!
I can hardly believe it's that time already again! I envy you your early departure, even if just to have a look around. I think we can't leave until July 1st and have to take a pass on Chicago...totally bummed regarding that! Your photo, as always, is beautiful! I look forward to seeing your summer holidays again.
This is beautiful Taffy! What a,serene view with the water looking so calm. Gorgeous tones to the shot! I am excited for you to be on Beaver Island again. How kind of your friends to bring your car to meet you! Enjoy your brief stay - I hope the mozzies are not as bad as last year! Been out of action last few days with family crisis - must get back to it. I will email you when I get the chance.
Beautiful shot and a lovely composition. It looks so peaceful. congratulations on the TT and also for letting me know that my Green Iguana was on there too.
@Weezilou Darn -- I was hoping we'd connect in Chicago this year. Sometime we should do this -- it would be fun to meet in person. Have spent the entire morning cleaning out the storage closet. Totally disgusting to have to do this but we need to get this house in order. It's been like a time capsule and too frequently I've asked Jim "What is this? Why do we need this? Does this go with something?" AGH!! Not relaxing yet! If any plans change and Chicago ends up on your horizon, let me know as it seems we may be back there through the end of June or early July now.
Beautiful calm water! There's something about being on the ferry that's magical! Enjoy your trip to Beaver Island. We just took a ferry to my special island off the coast of Washington where we are right now!
I really like the "matching" grays of the sky and the water. Gorgeous real estate on this water's edge, too. I am glad you are getting a chance to be back on Beaver Island (I do enjoy your shots from there), but almost everything about your short stay sounds like work. Still... a lovely place. :)
