Pews in the Rockefeller Chapel by taffy

Pews in the Rockefeller Chapel

Busy day today and while I took lots of photographs of meetings and a few of the surroundings, no time to process.
This is from Sunday's meet up at the chapel. The contrast of wood and stone was quite striking when their in person, which I tried to emphasize in the processing.
Thanks for your comments about the empty Phoenix airport shot and about the heat, or not that hot heat, depending on your perspective!
Great shot.. and yes the contrast with the wood and stone is great .. looks very Medievil

Such a contrast in textures and colours Taffy. It almost looks like two different designs as if the pews were added later. Interesting building. Great capture and processing of course!

I thought you had gone for sc until i read your story. Wow, what an interesting combination. Great shot and processing.

great contrasts between the two materials, like the processing too

A very cool shot it looks like it is outdoors.

Love the PoV and details. You are right about the wood-stone contrast. Fav

It almost looks like you put together two pictures as the contrast is so dramatic. Good eye in spotting this, Taffy.

Striking indeed--love the lines and architecture. Well spotted!

WOw. I love the contrast. I thought it was SC at first. Fav

Gorgeous shot and processing. I would have loved to see at least one person kneeling down (as if) in prayer.

Love the colour contrasts and repetitive patterns. Very impressive architecture :)

I like the wood/stone contrast, it looks very old. Lovely processing.

Beautiful processing!

Fantastic shot and I thought the same as Rachel and thought it was an sc shot until I read the story too.

Awesome shot

Nice shot Taffy. I really like your pov and the arches in the back

Great shot, repetition, neat angle, lines, composition, tones

@888rachel @onewing Thanks Rachel and Babs. It isn't sc, but I reduced the saturation so that the slight golden tones in the wall were gone. The wood color was so rich and deep that it held up even when desaturated (I was actually initially seeing how it looked in b&w). So a happy accident!

nice lines and lighting

Super rendition.

Super contrasts of colour and textures.

Lovely contrasts of tones, shapes and textures.

Beautiful image, you captured the contrasts between woodwork and stone very well. Almost looks like selective colour, but just read your comment above

I think the way you have desaturated the tones has worked really well. The wood of the benches looks like copper.

@paulaw Thanks Paula. The wood was such a rich tone, I was really surprised when I desaturated how far down I could go and it still maintained a pleasant color to it.

Love the wood tones plus the carving around the balconies and the stonework. Great shot, so much to look at. Fav

The details of the elements here just pop from the picture. The ones in the shadowed balcony are even visible. Looks like you took great advantage of the photo ops to be found in the Chapel.

Very pretty. These Gothic style chapels usually are! The craftsmanship was always outstanding. Nice shot!
