Went with three friends on a hike on Kuebler Trail, wearing our mosquito netting and sprayed heavily with bug spray. Pants legs tucked into socks, and long sleeves. BUT, it was still so nice to be outside! One part of the walk is through a fern grove that is impossible to capture in its entirety (failed many times) so today I went for the single plant, growing in the middle of the sandy dune trail.
Fire update: downstairs unit owners were told that they need to extend their rental a month as they won't be in on time. Uh-oh... maybe it means they are working more on ours?
Super pop of green against the contrasting b&w sand. I am so lame about remembering to change my aperture settings... yours is great, to catch all of this plant in focus.
Wonderful clarity - great focus! Love the shadow! Hope your mozzie netting protected you! If there is one around it will bite me! My mum always used to say it was because my blood was sweet! Another old wives tale! Fav!
Jeez! The amazing green plus the shadows? Have no sympathy?:) I hope that they are workin more on your place and this piece really grabs me, so, thank you
You.ve done well finding the solitary fern. The bright green offsets beautifully against the grey of the sand. Good use of a diagonal line in the composition as well.
When I try to capture something with leaves and a lot of them, I am never satisfied. I have seen it done well but I have to figure out how. Suspect you feel the same way. Probably has to do with the light but if you figure it out let me know. This is a neat little fern. I was in Portland on foot and trying to channel your architecture photo know how. Got too tired carrying my gear and the warm whether. BUt think I got one shot to post tonight that you might or might not like.
Love this little green fern and its shadow. Sometimes a great volume of anything is overwhelming, and a 'taster' or 'sample' can tell the story. This is a little beauty,
Lovely POV......that bright little fern really pops out of the ground. Is it SC?
Hate to tell you, but construction ALWAYS takes longer than expected.....some of it has to do with labor, and the contractor being committed to other jobs, and some of it has to do with materials, such as not ordering things on time, or having factory delays. I would just put your stuff in storage and enjoy the rest of your summer.... :-))
@panthora Yes, definitely was SC as the dune's sand is, well, sandy colored. I thought it would pop more against the b&w background than against the color tones which didn't add much and distracted from the green.
Re the house...we think what's happened is we have been quite clear on our deadline for needing to move in, so they've put more of the crew onto finishing our unit. Since our neighbor's downstairs have insurance of the 'not good' company, he is still awaiting any payments -- but expects them soon (we had our first main one in February), so this gives him some time to get some furniture ordered and delivered. It seems to be falling into place. Fingers crossed!
Great use of shape and shadow, good definition on the fern fronds too.
Groups of ferns are so frustrating - all those wonderful V and Y formations that the eye sees but that seem to be so tricky to capture! One day...
Hope your return back to your home isn't delayed too much.
