More fun with the fisheye from the Chicago Cultural Center. I've photographed this area before but never with a fisheye. It was fun to see how much more can be seen. The Tiffany Dome can be glimpsed to the left just beyond the 3 arches. This structure is right across from Millennium Park is is a "do not miss" if visiting Chicago -- especially for photographers. The trick is to be there without a ton of people!
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.
This is such a wonderfully beautiful site! I recall thinking when I saw your first photo of it that it gave a distinctly "Alice in Wonderland" sensation. No less so now with the fisheye! A terrific location to have even more fun!
Such beautiful interior architecture and decorations -- great use of your fisheye - but the image makes me quite dizzy yet I am compelled to look and look again !! fav
I knew this was your shot immediately Taffy. I am not normally a fan of fish eye shots, to me they are just a bit of fun but I love this shot and you have shown with your photographic skills how to use one of these lenses. This is such a fabulous building too, such beautiful architecture. Immediate though was Escher. Lol just read the comment above after I had written this! Instant fav!
@elaine55 yes I am Elaine! I am going first week in May next year and will be having photowalks with Taffy and anyone else who wants to join us! Going on my own and a bit nervous but Chicago looks wonderful and am very excited!
@pamknowler oh wow Pam that's fabulous, I am so envious, Chicago looks an amazing place and I love viewing it through Taffy's @taffy eyes. You will have a great time with Taffy, I loved going out with her when she was in Sydney and wish we had had more time.
My first thought was of Escher when I saw this - all those flights of stairs, of course and the subtle curves caused by the fisheye lens give a surreal effect that adds to the Escher-like quality.
Very cool capture, I love the neutral colour palette too.
@shepherdmanswife The fisheye has been so much fun, but I've yet to be able to do anything worthy in natural settings. I'd love to see what you do with it! I think it just needs some kind of structure -- a natural bridge or tree or something. Thanks for the kind comment and visit!
@taffy Good move. The main thing holding me back is the cost cf with how much I'd really use it. Being able to trial one, as you were, is the ideal position.
What a great space.....definitely going at the top of the places that I need to visit when I make it back there! This is such a perfect space for your fisheye lens....Escher definitely came to mind when I first viewed this with all those staircases going in every which direction. And, then those eyes, so many of them staring back from the railings!! Wild and wonderful.....and, a FAV!!
Also very Escher-esque!
Very cool capture, I love the neutral colour palette too.
