Today was photoshoot #1 at Scafuri's Bakery in Chicago's Little Italy (for background, see post from a few weeks ago: http://365project.org/taffy/365/2015-11-04
Kelly, the young owner, and her team had baked an array of their products and had them set up for me when I arrived. I set up my pop-up studio and extra lighting. Remember growing up and being told that you can't play with your food? Well, I got to play with wonderful cookies and even a breakfast sandwich. She asked for ones like this one, where there would be space for her to add text. Others are banners, closeups of individual cookies, etc. It was a great experience! And all the props were mine to take up to the college for meeting treats.
Mmmmm...yummy! These do look as though I could just reach out and grab one. You've accomplished her goal perfectly as she has plenty of space for her text, and what a bonus it was to be able to take the yummies to the meeting!
They look great and there's plenty of room for any copy that needs to accompany the image. Good high key too. Nice one!
Keeping the props sounds like a very reasonable part of the deal - maybe Kelly will need you for more photoshoots. ;-)
Great shot, but if it is to be used commercially, consider a different background as the icing gets lost against the background, (especially at the top)
Lovely image, great focus and composition but if I may make 2 comments. I had my laptop screen on an angle and there was a strange blue hue on the left side of the cookies, I also agree with Bob, the colour of the icing is not contrasting enough with the background, hope you don;t mind...
What tasty looking morsels you got to work with. It'll be something, seeing your photos on the website; I'll be thinking, "Hey, I know the photographer!"
@leonbuys83@bob65 Thanks for your thoughts on the icing. I had wondered about that and may try some other backgrounds when I go back. For this one, I thought it was clear from the middle cookie how the frosting looked and actually had consciously used high key processing so that the white of the frosting merged with the white background. For the future, I think it will be best for me to shoot it with more than one background, so good lesson learned!
Yummy! Just one for me.... while calorie counting still hoping to loose at least another 4lbs before Christmas... reached my slimming world goal 8st10lb but want be get a little slimmer.
I've got a local bakery i buy from and building up the courage to ask if i can come in (early) and take photos..
