Thank you so much for putting yesterday's shot of Niagara Falls from the US side onto PP. As a few noted, the view from the Canadian side is equally or more spectacular as you see the full view head on. Truly an amazing natural wonder.
Home again and looking forward to catching up, but since I have been up since 4:00 a.m., must sleep first!
Look at those trees, it's such a gorgeous sight but it awesome to see it like that in mid winter, like this! I agree the Canadian side is most spectacular view of the Falls, however I'm a biased Ontarian. It's a glorious capture, love the ice coating everything, just beautiful.
What I trip! I get dizzy keeping up with your travels! You're amazing in that you get out and get the photos while you're away; not everyone does! This is an incredible sight!
Is that really ice???? Oh my goodness me, I'd never have dreamt in my wildest nightmares that Niagara Falls would freeze, or is some of it still flowing. Thanks for improving my education. What an incredible shot. The different patterns in the frozen falls are fascinating, and the foreground reminds me more of coral than rocks. Fav.
I love the force of water in all its forms, ice included. I was mesmerised by the waterfalls at Milford Sound, although they came with stair rod rain! Hope you get some sleep now.
Super shot! I agree with the others the Canadian side is spectacular. I have only seen it in the summer, and love this winter shot, the b&w really emphasizes the coldness!
@golftragic Thanks Marnie! The falls are flowing freely, actually. The ice section is that middle part between the two heavy flows, and then at the bottom, all of that is iced over. It was quite amazing to see. I think I'll post one shot from further back so you can see how the flow is working -- in color it's more clear what is moving and what is ice.
Amazing to see, especially in winter. Wonderful shot. If you look on the lower right side, you can see the wooden viewing platforms that folks walk on, in the summer, to stand right by the falling water. Really fabulous and impressive textures, ice, frozen water and scenery. Fav. :)
@lesip Can't recommend them enough -- so many different kinds of photographic opportunities. And so strange that they were so easy to get to, just off a major highway! And the US and Canadian sides are about 15 minutes apart by car, and a relatively easy walk across the bridge if it isn't winter time.
