Diary shot...this morning we finally closed on our new condo in Skybridge (see red banner I added, which marks where our unit is located). For those who followed us through the saga of the house fire, year of reconstruction when we rented the Skybridge unit with its terrifying balconies, decision to try to buy it after selling our newly renovated home, etc., we sort of can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's now ours, though we have to honor the current renters' lease which may mean months to a year before we can move in, but at least it's now ours. This is a model of Chicago in the Chicago Architectural Foundation headquarters office area. You can see why we had such great views west (where I am photographing from), east to the city and lake, and north. Will continue to be away awhile as we settle in on Beaver Island while we await the renters' (hopefully early) departure.
Closed! :) So delightful. The markings, photographic and historical, are great. I am really happy for you both. Looking forward to tranquil time on Beaver Island.
I remember when you found Skybridge on this huge model of Chicago! Such a great day for you when you knew it was yours! Enjoy your time on Beaver Island!
Wow. Well that's the beginning of the end of a horrific saga for the two of you. It's yours and all you need now do is play the waiting game ... and what better place than Beaver Island! You've done so well over this difficult period of time. Congratulations Taffy and Jim!
Hooray - great that you have finally closed - what a year it's been for you - but what an exciting place to live. I think half of 365 will be passing through Chicago so they can come and see your view.
Congratulations! I hope that the renter's decide to move on soon although I'm sure you will have a great time on Beaver Island whilst you wait things out.
@ukandie1 Thanks Andie! Yes, it's all feeling pretty amazing. Crazy time right now so photography is taking a back seat (or really far back seat) but I know it's temporary. I wish you could have made the river tour -- it was one of those perfect summer mornings. We were lucky -- I'll post from that for awhile, I suspect, if I post anything. Have a great summer -- depending on how things go, we may be back off and on. I'll keep you posted.
Yippee, crack a bottle of whatever-takes-your-fancy and celebrate. Pity you still have to cool your heels in the wilderness, but this is a big step in the right direction. I'm so pleased for you and Jim after all the hassles you've had.
@taffy I wish I could have made it too! I have been so busy this past few weeks I have hardly picked up my camera and am feeling rather agitated that I have not! Dylan headed off to Choate today and Nik starts work on Monday and then i hope I will have some free time. My fingers are crossed for you that you will be able to get into your unit when you want to. If I don't see you over the summer then I look forward to seeing you late summer/fall! If you find yourself in the city mid summer text me, who knows :)
@snaggy
Good luck with getting to move in to the new place at the end of the summer.
