We've had dramatic skies for the past few days. Looking west, late afternoon, with the obvious storm coming in, we could see it developing across the lake. High Island is in the distance. Lake Michigan is up almost 48" (4 feet, over a meter) since last year. Water levels had been at almost historic lows. Interesting POV from islanders: Water is up, our beach is gone (east side), water is up, our beach is back and marshland is gone (west side).
Wow this looks really threatening!! Interesting how the water level affects you on the island. Fav for such an atmospheric image!! Fav! Hope you are relaxing on the island for a few weeks!!
@pamknowler Thanks Pam. It's great to be in a place that is 'ours' and to start settling in for the next 2 months almost. I'm hoping to stay here through Labor Day. We're making our lists of who to invite over for dinners, etc., getting the garden under control -- we've hired someone as I had to admit that I both hate gardening AND that there was more to do than humanly possible for one person. And I'm involved in an island community organization so it's fun getting up to speed with them. All is good for now!
