My photo-buddy Vickey is leaving the island for the season tomorrow so we squeezed in a final photo walk in two very different settings -- one all about wildlife, the other where abandoned cars, trucks and boats and being reclaimed by nature.
It's obvious which this is! The other can be seen in my other album: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2016-08-21
@juliedduncan Thanks Julie! No, no junkyard any more. We have a state of the art 'transfer station' for removing trash from the island. It's a large facility with boxes for everything you can imagine -- glass, plastic, metal, office paper, glossy paper, fabric, etc. We pay $2.50 for a green trash bag that holds two 'kitchen' size trash bags and only the green bags are accepted at the station. If you have trash that is not recyclable or not in a green bag, you pay a fee (e.g., computers are $10.00 to remove from island, car owners must pay a round trip ferry ticket for their vehicle so that if they need to be removed, it's already paid for. It's made a huge difference in the island not having trash and old cars dumped on the side of the road or in random fields. The old 'dump' is not a hill where grasses have covered the signs.
Wonderful shot , I can almost hear it talk, drive inn's, cruising on Saturday nights with Chuck Berry and the beach boys on 8 track. sitting on its roof looking at the moon in July 1969.ECT..ECT...
It is so sad to think that summer is coming to an end. I am finally getting my energy back and by the time I can chase butterflies they will be gone this season. The good thing is that summer comes again every year. Great shot. I love old cars and trucks, etc.
Oh my word, what a walk down memory lane. I well remember cars/utes with quarter-windows (they were sooo good), and three-on-the-tree gearsticks. Love this shot to bits, lots of rust, good grunge and an old-time car. Yesss. Fav.
