My Head Hurts from those Fireworks! by taffy

My Head Hurts from those Fireworks!

Not being a 'birder' it seems odd to start 2017 with a bird image, but I couldn't resist. I don't know if this is the same hummer I saw a few days ago, because in this light I barely saw ANY purple at all. Maybe this is the female of a pair? He (or she) seemed to be frowning at me this morning, maybe from a hard night of fireworks?
Thank you for your kind comments on my 2016 collage, and for the good wishes for the new year. Very much appreciated!
The last time I was in the US I wanted to see one of these little guys but wasn't lucky at all. They are so pretty and much smaller than I imagined.

Excellent shot, he does look somewhat miffed...

Looks quite grumpy! It can often be difficult to identify some birds as male and female often have different plumage plus their plumage can change when they are breeding.

Such a cute capture and love the orange flowers behind.

I've tried to take hummingbird photos....they are so very fast. Great to see

Lucky shot of the hummer. She has a cute expression. LIke she's annoyed. Can hummingbirds have expressions? I don't know.
Happy New Year Taffy!

I love hummingbirds. Can't wait to get back to photographing them come spring.

Too funny about being a non-birder, because you ARE a great bird photographer. :^)

@francoise Ha! You're right -- we are in Baja California, Mexico, where the 'cold' weather is in the high 50s at night and most days are in the 80s. Feeling VERY lucky at the moment, and for 4 more days. Then back to the cold, moving into the city to a rental for a few months, and returning to our current 'normal' living situation.

Beautiful bird and capture.

Grab all the "hot" shots you can. You won't find a hummer in Chicago right now.

@taffy Going to have 2 types of PT...Nurse & one PT came by today. After several days of sitting...saying goodbye to the kids and sitting some more...I just HAD to do something...and this chair is soft... Went the day until now to take a med, so yes, I'm going to continue to get better. I HAVE to stop falling!

Great photo and love your title. We had M-80's going off close to our house. It was scary and super illegal but have no idea who did it other than people in the area mentioned a car driving by tossing them at homes. We sure live in a different world today. Happy New Year in case I did not say this yet. Hope you are getting closer to getting into your place. FAV
