Part of the Fulton Street series. This conveys what you'd see in the blocks just beyond the warehouses I've shared earlier this week. In the next blocks, businesses have already been closed, but new commercial activity hasn't begun. This is between the Google building and the wholesale distribution activity that was captured in the earlier photos.
Thank you for your continued positive response to this series! I appreciate it a lot.
@bristolrose Yes, this is a block west of Google. So far, the renovations have been from the Google building east, but I'm sure that this is coming up next. Property is becoming very expensive just for the footprint, not for what is currently on it. An area about half the size of this building (the fish market) sold for 9 million US dollars, for essentially a teardown.
Not a fan of SC but you have made good use of it in this image. It is so interesting to see these buildings before any work has started on them. This series will be a good record to refer back to Taffy. You are capturing history in the making.
How sad to see developers and 'progress' erase such interesting areas. I abhor the plague of high-rise buildings that now dominate Melbourne. In many cases what used to be there was far more attractive, appealing and interesting. Yeah, I know, I'm showing my age.
