Thoughts as we passed by a major section of power sources to the city, probably because we've been reading about the evacuations in California due to maintenance issues on the highest dam there.
Processed in LR, PS, and Silver Effects.
Thanks for your kind comments and favs on my trolley shot - much appreciated!
Fabulous effects. Sure makes you appreciate the things we take for granted like electricity, doesn't it. We had a similar issue here after Hurricane Matthew. Two of the local dams were weakened by the heavy rain and they had to evacuate a bunch of people. Very scary.
I like the processing, as for the message it makes me think about how all over the place so much of our lives are right now. I feel for the people in Oroville, even though they have been given the all clear to return they must be going back with fear in the back of their minds.
It is a crazy world we're in right now. This is appropriately... twisted. Love the processing - it has an edgy electric feeling, perfect for the subject.
Wow... like a tower of ants, bending in a strong wind. Excellent effects. I feel for the folks or Oroville, with that looming feeling of disaster hanging over them recently.
@jgpittenger I tried using liquify for several times actually, but it ended up too over the top. Then, I went to the distortion filters and inside there was something I think called 'pinch' or something like that. I did a few with that and liked how this one turned out. I ended up deleting about a dozen earlier attempts - harder to do what I'd had in mind than I thought it would be. I think after using the 'pinch' one, I did another that created the soft drizzle of all the lines and that's what I think made it work in the end.
Totally fabulous, really gives the impression of high-voltage powerlines and pylons in a ferocious storm. A few months back one of those hit South Australia and blew down 22 of these pylons, leaving the whole state without power since the Victorian inter-connector was down too. Complete shambles. We've been getting news of the Oroville Dam here too, sounds very serious and very scary.
Very cool processing, Taffy. You captured instability so well. Hopeful this Dam will hold up. Thank goodness nothing catastrophic happened and hope with all the work that lies ahead along with rain and stormy weather that all goes well and it stays stable. Frustrating to know they had time, lots of drought time and nothing was done. I am amazed that people around the world have seen the story and are following it. You write so well and in one sentence summed it up. FAV
@terryliv@taffy Too late!! Fortunately those of us in So Cal are not affected (directly) by the imminent dam failure, but rain is coming again beginning tonight. Taffy, you're not far off on what the transmission lines look like under seismic excitation - and I know something about that!
Really cool shot.
