Taken on a recent photowalk and processed today where all the patterns popped for me because of the theme this week for bw-8 and for Flash of Red. Processed in LR and Silver Efex.
@casablanca I was there about 15 minutes or so, taking mostly people of people and their shadows on the bridge. I was leaving, actually, when I turned around and looked back, saw a cyclist coming in the distance and noticed that fortunately, there were no other people. I waited til he was in the frame between struts and snapped. So, lucky -- always look back!
Lots of lines and they all work beautifully together. I agree about looking back, it is a favorite thing to do on a walk/hike because seeing with a different perspective, even for a second, often gives a very cool shot.
love how the fence shadow kind of mimics the tall building in the background and the cyclist adds so much interest to the shot. Have your tenants moved out of your place yet?
@lesip Thanks for asking...no, they haven't moved out. We are guessing they will keep it until July 31st, which is the last day they can legally stay there. Very frustrating and it means a few more moves before we go up to the island, and then once there, having to return to Chicago. But we have our contractor lined up to renovate the kitchen in August! We get to 'visit' our place tomorrow morning and will be doing so as we meet with contractors to get everything lined up for when we do take it over.
@summerfield Thanks Vikki -- there's a LR preset that I downloaded from somewhere that brings in light to different thirds of the image (upper, middle, lower right or left) and I think the lighting is what makes our eye to go the cyclist rather than to the natural endpoint of the converging lines.
Great shot! I can't remember the photographer who said it, but the "advice" went something like, "Don't put your camera away until you're leaving the parking lot". Your comment "always look back" reminded me of that and I know from experience how true that is!
@fotoblah Thanks! I was so glad to see this cyclist in the distance and just waited til he was framed in the bridge structure. Without him, it didn't look nearly as interesting.
