Cleaning out hard drives and transferring files has some advantages (not many, I'm sure). It's fun to find a photo that seems to ask for (re)processing. This one is from Barcelona in December 2015, just off the main street, Las Ramblas.
Thank you for your comments and favs that put my strange contrails on TT this week. It was exciting to see it there. Life is getting in the way of photography in general and 365 in particular - as happens to us all. Hoping to be more regularly commenting and posting in another few days.
Oh Taffy, my sentiments exactly about a full life that requires paring down so many activities. Like you, over the winter, I really enjoyed coming across some old photos and reprocessing them! That could fill days on end in and of itself... And I do understand what it means to tie up loose ends before leaving for an extended time. So many wonderful choices, and not enough time to do it all! I do love what you did with your processing on this marvelous image. The lighting is good within, and you did a nice job with the lights and shadows!
Knowing how this looked in real life, and seeing the color version as shot, this black and white one stands out as evidence of how good processing makes even the most seemingly mundane images stand out as engaging viewing.
Reading Junko's comment I would like to see the original and then go through the processing with you to get this fabulous result! Love the arches and the light repeating along the corridor. Fav!
Life has definitely got in the way of 365 for me at the moment! Hoping to get lots of photos next week in Chicago which I can take my time in processing when I get home again ,
Looks like a very subterranean world. Interesting pattern repeats, both in light and architecture.
Life is nuts here at the moment too. It may calm down again once the teenager's exams are done, so long as he does well enough. Aggghh, no pressure there then!! You enjoy your busy days. We'll all still be here when you're done.
I knew this was a Taffy photo right away! The great leading lines draw me in, even though there's an eerie feeling, and the humans add scale. Looks super on black!
I've spent some time looking at this, and it looks terrific on black, where the light and shadows are so beautifully rendered. A great composition too, with its leading lines. Clear fav for me. Can identify with your feeling about life getting in the way of 365; this happened to me, and it was good to take a break and come back now in a more measured way.
Sensational viewed on black! Strong leading lines and repetition. Interesting that you mention life getting in the way of photography and 365 because that's exactly what happened to me the last two days. :-)
Having not seen the original, I can only say this is a spectacular shot, there's so much to see! It's like a mirror to mirror shot, it goes on forever.
Lovely, how the lighting emphasizes the symmetry. A newly found treasure! Cleaning out hard drives is like cleaning out a closet, I guess. You never know what you might find! :)
I love the repetition of the arches. Looks great in black and white Know what you mean about life getting in the way of 365 at the moment. I am racing round so much I am nearly meeting myself coming back.
I like the gloss and the patterns between the light patches on the floor. And the depth of the photo which seems to suggest an opening out to a lighter area at the end of the row of arches.
what a great treasure you discovered. i, too, when time permits these days, would look at the old photographs I've taken in my wanderings when i first got my dslr. i've discovered some really really good ones and i tell myself, i wasn't so bad even in the beginning. they're of course not in the same super league as yours....:-)
Instant fav love the composition; wonderful use of the light and shadow
creating great detail, tones and textures to amplify the place and context
