I've been trying for weeks to get a decent image of a dragonfly in flight. Tonight at Barney's Lake, this fellow kept flying by -- I deleted the other 40 or so images but was very excited with this one. The bokeh is the sun dancing off the ripples in the lake. I was shooting almost into the sun which was just slightly off-center.
And as if that weren't enough, I saw my sunset image at the top of TT today -- what a fantastic photography day and great way to start the weekend. Thank you!!
Well done for getting the dragon in flight - I know how hard this is! The image is especially beautiful with all that gorgeous bokeh! Wonderful! Fav! Have a great weekend!?
Fav. I can understand how difficult to capture them in flight. I once set myself to do the same and got a decent capture after many, many tries. But none was as brilliant as your shot.
They are so difficult to capture in flight. I have been down by the pond today taking photos but not getting any in focus unless they were sitting still, so well done you.
I just tried today to photograph a dragonfly in flight. It is probably the most difficult thing I have tried. I probably took at least 100 photos, but I was also deleting I is went. You have inspired me. I am posting mine today. Perhaps others will try also.
@moonmtn You did a great job!! I'm sure over time I've deleted hundreds to get the few that have come out -- and only 2 of all of them have the dragonfly in flight. It is fun, though!
makes you want to look and look.
the bokeh and glistening wings are magical
it conveys intent - if that makes sense :)
