This is Moo, a very sweet mix - St Bernard and Springer Spaniel - our friends rescued two years ago. We're enjoying being dog folks again, with Moo and her 'sister' - golden retriever Bella joining our household while their 'parents' visit us this week.
Photo is actually better on black if you have the time.
I am always astonished at the difference a black surround can make to a photo. Great shot this, the darkness of dusk seeming not to take away any of the detail within the frame.
Really sweet on black. The colors are so beautiful. Kudos to you, for resisting the temptation to lift the shadows etc. in the foreground - I would have tried this and I think it is a mistake. A dog, "in situ."
I'm a sucker for happy dog photos, and this is no exception. Lovely shot, lovely place, lovely dog. What's not to like. And I'm a sucker for rescue dogs in particular.
@rosiekerr I did have to lift shadows here...when in Iceland, our guide said always shoot for the sky/bright colors, as you can bring up the shadows easier than dealing with blown-out areas. So Moo was unseeable in the RAW version. I did try to be gentle about it, though -- I know what you mean about overdoing it and how easily that can happen.
