My brother, SIL, and I did another hike, this time yesterday morning to watch the "wreathing of the lions" at the Art Institute's entrance (pictures in the near future!) and to see a new exhibit. Tarsila Do Amaral is one of the most well known artists in Brazil, essentially one of the founders of their modern movement. She studied with Picasso in Paris among others. No surprise, but she is largely unknown within the U.S. The AIC has a retrospective of her work and it is simply fantastic. I loved her whimsical ones pictured here, the large one my favorite -- it's a story (or two or more) asking to be told! So, I share these with you simply because they were such a treat to see in person and I know I'll be back there before the exhibit ends.
Thank you for your wonderful response to the tree lighting seen from above which ended up on TT this week!
What an interesting collection of images in your collage. His individual style seems to grow on me the more I look at them. Thanks for showing us this!
Really well put together montage. I like the bold designs and colours but I have to confess I find the concepts behind the paintings unfathomable. The one on the extreme left and the next-but-one to it are particularly puzzling and intriguing.
I think I have seen her work before, but I cant remember where. Thank you for putting together this stunning collage of her works. You show them off very well.
I can easily see why you're drawn to this artwork, it's fabulous. Look forward to seeing more, and learning more about the work and the artist. I'm very ignorant about art.
